The researchers at Stanford University have organized ultrathin silicon chips into nanoscale bars to resonantly trap light. The ultrathin silicon chips or the “High-Q” efficiently trap the light and it can be later manipulated to be used in quantum computing, light-based WiFi, and detection of viruses.

The conversion of invisible near-infrared laser light into multiple visible colors with the help of microchip technology can be useful in defence, quantum computing and even medicine. The demonstration by the researchers at National Institute of Standards and Technology and University of Maryland showcases that the device can be mass-produced and widely used.

The US Army researchers collaborated with institutions to find an efficient and more reliable method for the testing of COVID-19. The team looked into testing samples with ELISAs method which identified if the ECD and RBD levels are spiked in the samples or not, a spike that is found in the body of a person carrying the virus.

A recent study concludes that the treatment of COVID-19 using hydroxychloroquine with or without azithromycin has not offered any clinical benefits to the patients. The study suggests that the use of this drug should only be in clinical trials and not used on masses.
