A peristaltic pump is a positive displacement pump that transfers liquids through flexible tubing using a rotating set of rollers. As the rollers compress and release the tubing in sequence, fluid is gently pushed forward in a wave-like motion, similar to natural peristalsis in the human body. Since the pumped liquid only comes into contact with the inner surface of the tubing, contamination risk is eliminated, making peristaltic pumps especially valuable for sterile and hygienic applications.
