Instead of a perfectly smooth stream, peristaltic pumps produce a rhythmic flow pattern. The level of pulsation depends on factors such as the number of rollers, tubing size, and pump speed. While pulsation is acceptable in many applications, certain sensitive processes may require flow smoothing.
